My Artistic Journey

I've had a passion for art and music since I was a young girl. My mother noticed my inclination towards the arts when I was just two years old. By the age of nine, I became a young entrepreneur, selling my handmade greeting cards in our school canteen. At twelve, I began accepting commissions for charcoal and pastel portraits, working on projects for students and others, all with the support of my mother. My father served as my number one critic, helping me refine my artwork.

During high school and college, I continued to develop my skills by participating in art competitions and joining creative clubs. I studied traditional painting in Antwerp, Belgium, and pursued digital filmmaking in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. While taking care of my children I took online courses : Journalism and Graphic designing both in the Philippines and in the Netherlands.

At twenty-one, I launched my own art and tutorial business in Lipa City, Philippines, while also working in radio, TV, film production, and events. I started teaching art when I was twenty and continue to do so, both in-person and online. By the age of twenty-two, I began creating exhibitions and participating in group shows.

My exhibitions have taken place in various locations, including Lipa City, Quezon City, Manila, Greenhills, Pasig, Batangas, Pampanga (Philippines), Schoten, Antwerp, Brugge, Breda, Amsterdam, The Hague (Netherlands), and in London and Paris, France, Germany, U.S.A and Canada.

My paintings have found homes in the Philippines, Belgium, the Netherlands, London, South Korea, Japan, the USA, Canada, Poland, and Sweden.

My Creative Space

I have a small studio in the comfort of my home where I also give lessons and creating all my commissioned projects and all.

Current Projects

I am the owner of Chelony’s Art Creative Studio and the founder of the Filipino Artists Guild Europe. In 2024, I launched a Fashion and Art Traveling Exhibition titled La Mode en Moi ( The Fashion with in me ) , which we inaugurated in Paris, France. Following that, we made our second stop in the Netherlands, held events in Germany, and are currently planning our third stop in Calgary, Canada.

In addition to this project, I am designing and producing Filipino-inspired dresses under the name La Mode en Moi by Chelony Mercado, which are made to order. We have also released our first book for La Mode en Moi. My interests go beyond these endeavors; I am actively engaged in live wedding and event planning, as well as organizing a variety of art exhibitions.
